Entry for June 3, 2009
The following was written to a ham who wrote asking to be put on the "waiting list" for the new regenerative receiver:

"Thank you for writing! The new regenerative receiver has been in the works for some time. We are very close to announcing its sale to the amateur and radio experimenter community.

This receiver uses a vacuum tube that was developed in the 1960's when cars first changed over to 12 volt batteries. The tube uses 12 volts for filament and plate power. No high voltage required.

The receiver was designed for use with an audio amplifier. Typical re-gen

receivers used high impedance headphones. The re-gen receiver can squeal when it goes into oscillation, and that can be unpleasant when you have headphones on!  Of course, the builder could attach headphones to our receiver, but we will leave that up to the builder.

The receiver covers from approximately 2.9 Mhz to 3.9 Mhz as provided.  Coils for other frequencies could be wound.

The purchaser of these receivers will assemble a wood chassis with screws, drill holes in metal panels, and follow page after page of detailed wiring, mounting, assembling and soldering instructions.  In other words, lots of fun!

The kit includes an American Made vernier tuning capacitor, a custom metal front panel, a heavy filter choke, and lots of goodies such as tube socket, resistors, capacitors, diodes, chokes, and nuts bolts, terminal strips and so on. Parts are all new or "new old stock" and totally warranted against defects.

The manual is a step by step "book" of more than 25 pages. It is quite an undertaking to 'mass produce' a regenerative receiver in 2009 that shares many characteristics with Armstrong's regenerative receiver of 1912!  We recommend C.F. "Rock" Rockey's book entitled "Secrets of Home build Regenerative Receivers" published by Lindsay Publishing. This is a well written book of 127 pages published in 1996 and 1997.

Our kit is priced at $75.00. I have added you to the "waiting list" and will notify you when the production is released.  There is of course, no obligation to buy. "

Thought  you would enjoy these comments. Stay tuned!
