We recently discovered the 6V6 transmitter kit had little or no output when using 40 meter crystals on 40 meters. The fix was to add another mica is series with C1 the 470 to 500 pf mica in the cathode coil. This should be the same value as C1 supplied in your original kit. If you know someone who purchased this kit in the past please advise them. New kits have this part and instructons.

Our FT 243 style 40 meter crystals on 7.04 and 7.03 mHz work very well with the modification in place in this 6V6 radio.
